I haven't updated in quite a while! I have been a little too busy to update. So, a long over due completed shoot post!

And in just a few short weeks, I will have the privilege to photograph their wedding. I cannot wait!

today i had the pleasure of taking jade & michael's engagement pictures. they are a wonderful couple that really is a lot of fun to work with! we traveled to shelbyville to do the portraits at my friend's farm (thanks will!). the weather couldn't have been better and there were wonderful places around the farm to take some really unique pictures. and towards the end of the session as the sun began to set, a beautiful light was cast all around. i am very excited to photograph their wedding in november! i know it will be great!

Today, my wonderful willing model Sarah, and I set forth into Nashville to take some portraits. It was fun. My biggest highlight was going on one of those pedestrian bridges across the interstate! I have always wanted to go on one... and finally found on near me. Check out the full quality images here.

The Parthenon

I love centennial park. I have since I was a child when my dad would take me to play. As a photographer, I love the lines of the Parthenon. I have wanted to take some pictures of it at night for a while now. Tonight, thanks to my awesome husband, I was able to go and do just that.

one of my goals for my photography, is to have a photograph published. one of the ways i have tried is through jpg magazine. through a voting system and different themes each month they choose different photographers pictures. it is a great way to get your name out and have something published.

each month i check the theme and see if i have any pictures that fit it. i have entered a few pictures before and so far have had no luck. but, i am convinced one day i will. i entered a photograph tonight, and would ask you to vote for it. it would mean so much to me!

A Willing Model

Now that I am finished with the phone photography [at least for now], I decided to have a little fun with all my new lighting materials. I was testing all this out with myself, but I guess it looked like so much fun, that Sophia decided to join.

She came and laid down [without me asking], and sat there waiting for me to take her picture.

A Little Product Photography, Preview

I am half way done. I have photographed 20 of the 43 phones. This is proving to be more tedious than I had first thought, but it definitely gets easier as I go along.

A Little Product Photography, Take One

i mentioned before that i was going to be doing product photography for a used cell phone company, phones for cell. i received all the cell phones yesterday. the photographs of the phones will go to their online store.

today, i set up my light tent and lights and am ready to begin. of course i had to have a little bit of fun in the process.

also, a word of warning when opening a pop up device, such as a tent: point very far away from your face. they can pop up much faster than you may think and give you a not so gentle warning on your face.

after i finish, i will post a couple shots... cell phones aren't that interesting to look at after all. :-)

Camera Upgrade Bliss

I just upgraded my Canon Rebel XTi for a Canon Rebel XSi. I am thrilled! I cannot wait for it to arrive. It is quite a nice upgrade from 8 megapixles to 12 megapixels. It will also be fabulous to have an extra camera as a back up or for an assistant to use. Hopefully, I will be able to purchase a super wide angle lens and perhaps a simple zoom lens. I love new camera equipment! It just makes me all warm and fuzzy in the inside :-)

now that the beautiful bride has officially been unveiled, here is a bridal portrait!

I had so much fun doing Allison's bridal portraits. Allison, a few of her bridesmaids, and her mom came up to Nashville to do the session in Centennial Park. Allison is a wonderfully unique girl and it was a great pleasure to capture her beauty in these photographs. It was a fun filled day of chasing pigeons, ducks... and getting yelled at-- something not fun at the time, but turned into a much larger, awesome story.

*this was my favorite picture of the day. unfortunately, blogger has a nasty habit of compressing the images. i am sorry you cannot view the photograph in all its glory. so please ignore the horrible quality :-) *

Allison and Nate are getting married Friday. I cannot believe it is already here. I am so excited to be a part of their special day.

I will be photographing the rehearsal on Thursday. I think this will give me a great opportunity to get a good feel for how it will be on Friday. Knowing exactly how it will go, where everyone will be, and just visualizing it... I feel it will make capturing those perfect moments even better. And of course, Friday will be filled with all sorts of wedding bliss!

today i was able to take some family portraits for mary, her daughter, and mother. they were really fun to work with! they reminded me a lot of my family actually.

i will be starting to do some product photography for a company that sells phones soon. i know it is a little random, but i am looking forward to the experience. i am also looking forward to summer break coming up. i am thankful to have more time to spend on photography. i am planning a few photo outings. just me and my handy camera!

that is the best way to describe how the next few months will be for me. i will be busy, but it will be great. so, thankfully busy.

remember that summer wedding i have coming up? this month i am so excited to be able to shoot their engagement portraits, next month do the lovely bride's bridal portraits, and then finally june! their beautiful wedding! not only that, but i have some family portraits coming up, a possible event, and i was lucky enough to snag amy to help assist me during the wedding. she is very talented and i am thankful to have the opportunity to work with her.

i feel so blessed to have all these wonderful opportunities. i am very passionate about photography. i cannot express how grateful i am to see my dreams coming true. thank you all for you prayers, encouragement, and for believing in me!

the boy who wears red shoes

wonderful new opportunities have recently sprung into my life. in less than two weeks i will be flying to new york city to spend a few days with my sister-in-law. while i am there i will have the privilege to photograph REVO NY. i was just blessed to have the chance to go, but now i even get to be a part of it! i am also going to submit a few photographs of my recent series, the boy who wears red shoes.

this is a series about michael, the child i assist. he is a true blessing in my life. he brings my heart so much joy each day. i have been blessed to know him, watch him grow academically and socially, and watch how his life touches others. he is the friendliest child you will ever meet. you can't help but fall in love with him the second he smiles and begins to speak. the greatest blessing i get to see is how the children react to him. his best friends adores him and gently takes him by the hand an guides him throughout his days. the children at our school choose to love and accept michael. and it is beautiful to watch. as i have said before, michael truly is a joy to this world.

rediscovering the telephoto lens

today was a lovely day to take pictures. recently i rediscovered my love for my canon 75-300mm telephoto lens. i enjoy shooting from a distance to get natural looking pictures. some of my favorite pictures from the wedding are the ones i shot with my telephoto lens.

today i decided to bring out my telephoto lens and take some pictures.

i caught him off gaurd... but i love the blurred background and the sharpness the lens creates.

i am enjoying this rediscovery. i also hope to one day soon enjoy a macro lens and a wide angle lens. that would be awesome.

i had the pleasure of going to michael's birthday party. i was greeted with many hugs from his little sister and other children at our school. and then i saw michael. and his face lit up and looked a bit surprised. he grabbed me by the hand and led me to his other guest down stairs. there were little boys running around jumping all over the room and funiture. it was chaos. but little michael just smiled and joined in.

he was having a high school musical party. during the first 2 minutes of the movie the children sat quietly, and then, like it was rehersed, they all jumped up at once and began dancing.

it was great. michael's mom would come down stairs every once in a while and just smile. i realized that she didn't care if the children were being crazy, she was just happy that michael was happy and enjoying the company of his friends. michael has been extremly blessed by children who accept him and love him just the way his is.

joy. you really can just see it all over his face. out of all the parties i have been to in my life, this is one i will always remember. he just makes my heart burst with joy.

in addition to being a photographer, i am also blessed beyond words to be an educational assistant to a wonderful child. today was his birthday. i think i may have been almost as excited as he was about his special day. he rushed into school with a huge grin and was greeted by many birthday wishes. he is a superstar at our school. he proudly put on his birthday crown and was ready for the day ahead.

in music class when a child has a birthday they get to have their special birthday time. they get sung to, get pretend spankings or hugs, and get to sing a song of their choice. michael chose to get pretend spankings and hugs. it was hilarious! he was so funny and dramatic and played along pretending they hurt. and then came his big moment to sing. he chose to sing joy to the world.

during our christmas pageant this was the song that finally made him get up on stage. he was being a bit timid, but this song was his moment to shine. he loves to sing it anytime and anywhere. he stood up proudly in front of the group and sang with all his might. as i was taking pictures i noticed a parent tearing up and a teacher standing in awe of this wonderful child. this child truly is a joy to this world. everyday i feel so incredibly blessed to work with him. he isn't just the child i assist, he is my friend. he is wonderful.

summer wedding

last summer i had an opportunity to photograph a wedding for a couple, lindsay and chris. it was a beautiful wedding. i was so thankful to be a part of their special day.

this june i will have the honor of photographing my friend, allison's wedding. she is a wonderfully unique and lovely girl. i cannot wait to see her get married and have the added benefit of being a part of it!

i feel so blessed that i have been given the opportunity to capture beauty in the special moments life has to offer.
